#209 POLAR BEARS IN THE CANADIAN ARCTIC |
|||
ANWBEAR: This Polar Bear hunt on the arctic coast is conducted out of communities like Holman Island, Pelly Bay, Taloyoak and Gjoa Haven, all of which have high harvest quota's for Polar Bears. Hunting is done from outpost camps and hunting camps in prime areas that may be up to 100 miles from the nearest Eskimo community. Depending on hunt dates temperatures can stay as low as -40 f . Your guides make sure that you are equiped with the right artic gear. All hunting is done by dog team. All hunts are usually 12 days in duration on a 1x2 basis ( one guide and dog team, plus one helper on snowmobile to one hunter), or on a 2x2 basis if clients wish. Extra hunting days can be arranged on the spot if the hunter has not had the opportunity to bag a bear within the 12 day hunting period. However, most bears are bagged within 7 days. The secret of this hunt is not to shoot the first bear you see. It really isn't that cold. This is a Canadian Arctic adventure to remember. Now booking for 2007. |
